We've disabled commenting in the galleries and news sections.  Apologies to the few who used the section intelligently, but overall it's not worth coming up with a workaround to avoid the spambots.  If you want to discuss the artwork, you're welcome to come over to the forum. :>

Did some housekeeping in the galleries, condensed a few of them.  It's better organized now.  Also, maybe you've noticed some art updates.  That's because I actually updated D:  Some Mario stuff, as well as work from other video games like TF2.  More artwork is on the way from a few different artists, so check back here for a list of what's new.

Nintendo Attacks Poorly-Made Mario Fancreations
Written by MetalYoshi

MetalYoshiIn a recent press conference, Nintendo representatives said that they would start cracking down on unauthorized misuse of their licensed Mario characters, a popular series with many fan-based works.

"We have been browsing various fansites recently and have been very disappointed with what we have seen," said one intern. "Although we do not mind quality work which respects and promotes our hard work, there are some things on the internet that are just shameful."

They continued to describe a list of items that would be targeted: fan-fiction with blatant disregard to the rules of convential grammar, fan-fiction depicting intimate situations, poor-quality MIDI and MP3 remixes, pictures with horrible misuse of proportion and no apparent artist skill, pictures depicting intimate situations, fetish pictures and others that appeared to be "just plain wrong," fancharacters who are supposed to be directly related to Mario, Luigi, Peach, or the Koopa family, and fancharacters who are a cross between a Yoshi or Koopa and some other species.

"Our goal is to have all of these items removed from the internet within three months," the representatives continued. "After this grace period, we will start to file lawsuits. But for now, we would greatly appreciate in your cooperation in removing low-quality and illict fanwork from the internet." Already, many major art sites have complied to these standards, including deviantArt, FurAffinity, VGMusic, and FanFiction.net, and have begun removing content.

"Super Mario" games, music, characters, and scenarios are © Nintendo, and don't you forget it.

Interview with Kooky!
Written by Da Real Kooky

Michael Williams-Stark

kooky I've recently interviewed the Kooky von Koopa voice actor, Michael Williams-Stark. The interview was handled via phone and was quite the rewarding experience for me. Granted, what you'll read here isn't everything we talked about, but it's what was for the interview.

Michael himself was born with a facial disfiguration which made growing up tough for him, but through his charity, Making Faces, he helps children born with the same differences overcome the troubles they face.Be sure to check out Michael's charity website, http://www.makingfaces.ca

Michael started out doing Improv and eventually got into voice acting, one of his major gigs being the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon. On with the interview!

PS3 comes up short
Written by Fun Guy Fungi

crazytoadAs IGN notes, the PS3 may be in extremely low supply for its release, which is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2006.  Sony expects to put out 400,000 PS3s in North America and another 100,000 in Japan.  It still plans to launch six million by March, but for a release date, this may be far too little.

It's a little complicated, so I'll do the math for you folks.  There are approximately 300 million people in the United States.  400,000 lucky ones will get a PS3.  That's about 0.1% of the population, give or take a few thousandths of a percent.

Sony is still confident, but their system, while still having the quality expected from them, is plagued by a series of issues, not the least of which is price.  One can only guess what the PS3 will go for on eBay on November 18.

Hats off to Morton2, who earned his own gallery for his  hilarious depictions of ultra-buff characters in the Mario art section yesterday.  When an artist reaches five submissions to any particular section of the galleries, they are given a gallery of their own.   Morton2's gallery can be found in "Guest Artists Gallery II ."

Congratulations!

I want to apologize to all of our affiliates. In my rush to put up the new website, I completely forgot to add a section for affiliate buttons. I'm going to have this up in the next couple of days.  The good news is that unlike the old website, the affiliate buttons will be displayed on every page of the website. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks again to everyone for putting up with the general craziness around here while we are working on finalizing everything with the new version of The Koopatorivm. I'd like to ask that you bear with us as we move the artwork from the old galleries into the new ones.  There are over 1000 artwork files that need to be placed, but little by little we are starting to get everything back in order.  Brand new artwork is coming, so keep watching the galleries for new updates!

New website
Written by Administrator

<> So this is the long awaited new koopatorivm. It's not 100 percent done. You might come across some empty sections, sections with some filler latin, or you might find a bug or two. Also, a few sections, like kpaint, doesn't match the new color scheme. Don't worry, these are minor issues and will be taken car of soon. We just decided that the website was done enough that we can just throw it online. Special thanks to The Bourgyman, Addm, Kaptain H and everyone else who contributed to the design and engineering of the new website.

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards. Blah blah blah blah blah blah
